Terms of Use
1. Who we are
Sentry Trader is operated by Ken Scott, an individual ("we", "us"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") cover the website at sentrytrader-app.com, the invite-only download service, and the Sentry Trader desktop software ("the software").
2. Accepting these terms
By using the website, signing in to the download service or downloading the software, you agree to these Terms and to the Risk Disclosure. Before a download starts, the download service asks you to confirm that you agree to this version of the Terms and the Risk Disclosure, and records that you did. If you do not agree, do not use the website, the download service or the software.
3. Eligibility and invite-only access
You must be at least 18 years old and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. Downloads are available only to people we invite. Your access is personal: do not share download links or sign-in codes. We may withdraw an invitation or revoke access at any time.
4. The software and its license
The software is free and open source under the MIT license, and the MIT license governs your use, copying, modification and distribution of the software. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights the MIT license gives you. The MIT license includes this disclaimer, which applies to the software:
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
These Terms add the trading-related acknowledgements below, which apply to your use of the software with real or paper accounts.
5. The website and download service
The website explains the software and offers support. The download service lets invited people sign in and download builds of the software. We may change, suspend or stop the website or the download service at any time, without notice.
6. Pre-release software
The software is pre-release. It may contain bugs, change without notice, or stop working. There is no service level, uptime commitment or guaranteed support. Support, when offered, is best-effort.
7. Third-party services
The software works with services you sign up for yourself, under your own accounts and keys: Robinhood (trading through your Robinhood Agentic account), Alpaca (market data) and OpenRouter (AI models). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies. We are not affiliated with them, do not control them, and are not responsible for their acts, errors, outages, fees or changes.
8. No advice
Sentry Trader is software. We are not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, commodity trading advisor or fiduciary. Nothing on the website or in the software is investment, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security or cryptocurrency. AI model output is not advice. We never hold or control your funds.
9. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for every trade placed in your accounts and for all use of the software, including your mandate, limits, model choices, and the decision to arm automated trading. You are responsible for the security of your computer and accounts, for monitoring the software, for keeping it updated, and for complying with your broker's terms and the law.
10. Risk Disclosure
The Risk Disclosure is part of these Terms. Read it before you use the software. Trading involves substantial risk, including the loss of all the money you let the software trade.
11. Acceptable use
Do not attack, overload, scrape or probe the website or the download service, try to get around its access controls, or use it to break the law.
12. No warranties
The website, the download service and the software are provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and that the software will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free or profitable.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from or related to the website, the download service, the software, any trade, or any third-party service. This includes trading losses, lost profits, lost data, and indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we were told they were possible. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims is US $0.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the website, the download service or the software, your trades, or your breach of these Terms or the law.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms, the website, the download service or the software must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these Terms. When we do, we post the new Terms here with a new version and effective date. The download service asks you to agree to the current version before your next download.
17. Termination
We may suspend or end your access to the website or the download service at any time. Sections 8 to 15 survive. Your rights under the MIT license to copies of the software you already have are not affected.
18. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and that part is enforced to the maximum extent permitted. These Terms, the Risk Disclosure and the MIT license are the entire agreement between you and us about their subject matter. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it.
